Sashimi Tuna Steaks Grilled
Fully cooked grilled tuna.
Sashimi tuna steaks grilled. Grill covered 4 to 6 minutes per inch thickness or until fish begins to flake when tested with a fork but is still pink in the center turning once halfway through cooking. If you choose a piece of tuna that is about 1 inch thick then it will grill in about 8 to 10 minutes flipped once. Mix the soy sauce 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil 1 tablespoon honey 1 tablespoon kosher salt 1 2 teaspoon omit if marinating for more than a couple hours see notes pepper 1 4 teaspoon and cayenne pepper 1 4 teaspoon until honey is fully dissolved pour over the ahi tuna steaks and turn over to coat completely. Set the tuna steaks over the coals.
Brush the fish with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Will definitely make again. 4 tablespoons olive oil. The omega 3 fatty acids contained in tuna help reduce inflammation lower your triglycerides lower your blood pressure and improve your immunity according to the mayo clinic.
This is very good but there is too much salt in the recipe. Grill longer if you prefer your tuna cooked through. Spray the grill plates lightly with nonstick spray and place the steaks on the grill closing the cover so the top grill rests evenly on the steaks. A stove top preparation of tuna steaks allows you to cook the fish quickly while adding flavor through your favorite seasonings.
Do not press down. Grill for about 3 minutes for a rare pink interior. You want to remove tuna from the grill before the surface starts to get crusty and burns. Grill the tuna steaks for approximately 12 to 16 minutes basting frequently and turning midway through the process.
Get your grill hot. Brush steaks with oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. I only used 1 tsp and it was still salty. I also used yellow tail tuna steaks.
I made this for 4 and the recipe called for 2 tsp kosher salt. To grill the tuna get a charcoal or stove top cast iron grill very hot. After we ve made sure to dry the surface of the fish well the last thing we want to do is get it wet again before putting it on the grill. But other than that everyone loved it.
You don t need to cook tuna steaks on the grill to get great flavor. Salt draws moisture out of proteins like fish and other meats so i make sure to sprinkle it on the tuna at the last second. 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice. Remove tuna from refrigerator pouring off the marinade into a bowl to use for basting.
For direct grilling on a gas or charcoal grill place the tuna steaks on the greased grill rack directly over medium heat. Grill each side for only 2 to 2 1 2 minutes. Remove from the grill and keep warm. This will cook through to the middle provided that your grill is good and hot.
